Coffee Filters Aren’t Just For Coffee!

Looking for uses for coffee filters, besides their original purpose? I have found many uses for coffee filters, but my favorite use for them is to put them in the bottom of plant pots before you pot the plants. When you water the plant, the dirt stays in the pot and just the excess water flows out. But don’t stop there, there are more uses for coffee filters! Coffee filters are great servers for tacos, hot dogs, popcorn and other snacks. They are great for cleaning mirrors and windows, They don’t leave a speck of lint and you can dry them and use them over again. Apply shoe polish with a coffee filter. Pour a small amount of liquid fabric softener into the center of a flattened coffee filter. Rub it in. Toss the filter into the dryer and you have an inexpensive fabric softener dryer sheet. I could go on forever about uses for coffee filters… Somebody stop me!

If You Cut Your Hair, Keep Those Pony Tail Holders!

Pony tail holders (the type with the little plastic balls) are the perfect tool for securing extension cords, cords on small tools and appliances and they quickly cinch up cords that dangle behind things. They aren’t as easy to find as they once were – but they’re still out there. I just bought a box of them at Target for around $2.

Bowl Brushes. Not Just For Bathrooms Anymore!

If you’ve been to one of my seminars you’ve seen me demonstrate how a bathroom bowl brush (one that’s never been used in the bathroom) is a great tool for cleaning carpet edges – places the vacuum doesn’t quite reach. The brush is also great on carpeted stairs, cold air vents, between stair posts, under piano pedals, screens, and is a handy tool for removing pet hairs on furniture and carpet. Oh! And don’t forget the car. Can’t get to the car wash? A quick swipe on the upholstery and floor and the car looks a lot better.
